Collection Het Scheepvaartmuseum
The collection of Het Scheepvaartmuseum is an important source of knowledge and inspiration on Dutch maritime history and culture, from the sixteenth century to the present day. The collection comprises 350,000 objects such as ship models, paintings, drawings, navigational instruments, globes, atlases and nautical charts, technical drawings, manuscripts, archives, photographs, prints, books, maritime objects of everyday use and vessels. Together, these objects tell the story of six centuries of Dutch shipping, trade, maritime technology and the relationship between people and the sea.
