The body of the Dutch interpreter Henry Heusken, secretary at the American legation. Having been attacked by a group of Japanese imperial loyalists at the Naka-no-hashi bridge in Shiba, an area in the city of Edo, at around 9 o'clock in the evening of January 15th, 1861, he had died shortly after midnight. Here his corpse can be seen lying in his lodge at the Zenpuku-ji temple in Azabu, another area in Edo, where the legation was located. Heusken hielp Eulenburg in de onderhandelingen voor een verdrag met Japan.
