The Japanese warrior Shigeaki Kubota, also known as Sentarō Kubota, commander of the Japanese troops at the treaty port of Kanagawa with three retainers. Here he can be seen wearing a sleeveless battle coat over a "modern armour", a half mask, and a helmet while holding a baton with tassels used to convey orders on the battlefield. One of the retainers has a straight-headed spear while each of the other two have a glaive. They are dressed in mail jackets and mail hoods, one of which has a metal forehead protector. In their belts they carry short swords.Foto van Samurai in gevechtstenue.
