Description
The Japanese warrior Shigeaki Kubota, also known as Sentarō Kubota, commander of the Japanese troops at the treaty port of Kanagawa. Here he can be seen in the photographer's studio dressed in a "modern armour" with a headband while demonstrating how to handle a long, curved, single edged sword. Carrying a matched pair of swords consisting of a long, curved, single edged and a short one, as he did, was the privilege and symbol of members of the warrior class.Foto van Samurai in gevechtstenue.
