The Japanese warrior Shigeaki Kubota, also known as Sentarō Kubota, commander of the Japanese troops at the treaty port of Kanagawa. Here he can be seen in the photographer's studio dressed in a sleeveless battle coat over a "modern armour" with a half mask and a helmet while holding a baton with tassels used to convey orders on the battlefield. Carrying a matched pair of swords consisting of a long, curved, single edged and a short one, as he did, was the privilege and symbol of members of the warrior class.Foto van Samurai in gevechtstenue.
